A new bar and restaurant is set to open on Newcastle’s Quayside this summer with picturesque views over the River Tyne.
The former ‘Flynn’s Bar’ and ‘Charts’ venue is currently being refurbished and will welcome guests when it reopens as ‘Chart House’ next month.
Renovation works at the bar are now underway to transform it with a ‘maritime spice route’ them ahead of opening later in September.

Bosses have said visitors can expect “a relaxing, enjoyable, and memorable experience with warm hospitality, stylish interiors, mouth-watering cuisine and idyllic views”.
Rhys McKinnell CEO of Pub Culture which owns the new ‘Chart House’ said: “When I joined Pub Culture back in September last year, I was immediately excited about the huge potential for Chart House and its location - delving deep into what customers are looking for and where the opportunities lay, we knew we could bring our expertise to introduce a distinctive concept to Newcastle.”
The menu will feature small plates including Moroccan spiced meatballs and tiger prawns, and meals including Thai spiced seabass and Lemongrass chicken skewers.

Head chef Matt Watkins said: “Chart House aims to impress our guests with great food and excellent service. The haul of spices and exotic ingredients that might have filled merchant ship’s holds are peppered throughout our menu, taking tastebuds on a mouth-watering adventure.”
The restaurant will create 14 new full-time jobs when it opens next month.
It will be set in the Grade II listed Chart House which has stood on the Quayside since the late 18th century and survived the Great Fire of Newcastle in 1854.
The building was historically home to Matthew S Dodds, a former map purveyor to seagoing vessels visiting Newcastle, which has provided inspiration for the new venue’s theme.
