Two people have been injured following two incidents in Felling this morning as police continue to remain in the area.

Split Crow Road was cordoned off this morning between Nursery Lane and Balmoral Drive.

A heavy police presence along with the ambulance service was seen in the area.

Google reported a crash on Nursery Lane, however, it is unknown whether this is linked to the incidents.

It was later confirmed by North East Ambulance Service that they had been called to two separate incidents and two people were left injured.

A spokesperson for the service said: “We were called to two separate incidents in the Split Crow Road area of Felling in the early hours of this morning.

“The first call was at 3:41 to reports of a person injured in a road traffic collision involving a motorbike. 

“We dispatched a specialist paramedic, a clinical team leader and a double crewed ambulance. We transported a female patient to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.

“We received a second call from the police at 4:54 to a person injured.

“We dispatched a specialist paramedic, a clinical team leader and two double crewed ambulances and transported a male patient to the Royal Victoria Infirmary.”

Northumbria Police have confirmed that the incident involved a motorbike and one person has been arrested while two were injured.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "Shortly before 3.45am today (Tuesday), we were alerted by the ambulance service to a report of a one vehicle collision, involving a motorbike, on Split Crow Road.

“A 33-year-old female, believed to be the pillion passenger, was found at the scene and taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.

“A 36-year-old man was subsequently found nearby and has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

“The road remains closed to allow for investigation and is expected to be re-opened later today.

“Any witnesses or anyone who was travelling in the area at the time of the collision and has dashcam footage, who has not yet spoken to us, is asked to get in touch via our website or by calling 101 and quoting log 113 of today."
