A man was taken to hospital following an attack in Redcar early this morning.
Police have issued a statement on the incident this morning in Redcar.
The attack took place in the early hours of this morning in the Westfield Court/Westfield Way area of Dormanstown, Redcar.
There were reports on social media that the incident involved a knife but this has not been confirmed.
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called at 4.40am today (Sunday) to reports of a disturbance in the Westfield Court/Westfield Way area.

“On their arrival a 33-year-old man was discovered with a leg wound and he was taken to hospital by ambulance, where he is still receiving treatment.
“While no one has been arrested at this stage, enquiries are on-going and police have remained in the area today.
“Detectives would reassure residents that this is believed to be a targeted incident, with no current risk to the wider public.
“We would appeal for anyone with information/dash cam or CCTV who has not yet spoken with police to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number, quoting ref 153355.”

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said, “We received a call to 999 at 4:37am on Sunday to reports of a person injured in the Westfield Court area of Redcar.
“We sent one emergency ambulance crew and took one patient to hospital with a leg injury.”
