A dog has been killed after it was involved in a collision with a car on the southbound carriageway of the A19 in North Yorkshire.
Emergency services attended the scene of the crash at around 10.45am following reports of an incident between a car and an animal on the dual carriageway.
After arriving on the scene, officers from North Yorkshire Police found a dog that was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver, who was said to be shaken by the incident.

In a statement to The Northern Echo, North Yorkshire Police confirmed its attendance and revealed that the dog had died.
A spokesperson for the police force said: "I can confirm that we did attend, and sadly, a dog did died as a result of the collision. We don’t have anything further to add."
Following the collision, queues of around 20 minutes were seen, while police officers partially blocked the road to allow them to work at the scene.
Online, several well-wishers commented on the incident - with one social media user writing: "Oh my goodness poor little love - I hope the driver isn't too traumatised," while another added: "It would break my heart seeing a dog get hurt. Doubt it be ok with them speeds."
The road reopened at around 11.35am.
