Five men have been arrested after a 'violent disturbance' broke out on a residential street in Darlington - causing 'serious concern' among the local community.
Officers from Durham Police were called to Westminster Road on Tuesday (August 23) at around 6.45pm following reports of a violent episode in the street.
The incident is said to have involved several males of varying ages - but details about how it began haven't been given.
After arriving on the scene, Durham Police confirmed that five people have been arrested in connection with the disturbance and remain in police custody where they will be interviewed by officers.

Following the incident, Detective Sergeant James Woodcock, from the East Neighbourhood Police Team, has moved to calm fears from local people about a repeat of the incident - with DS Woodcock revealing that more patrols will be put on to reassure the public.
He said: “This incident occurred in a residential area and has caused understandable concern in the community.
“As a result, we have deployed additional patrols to the area to provide reassurance to local residents over the next few days.
“Officers are currently following several lines of enquiry in relation to the incident. We would urge anyone who witnessed the disturbance but has not yet spoken to us to get in touch and pass on any information they may have.”
Durham Police are now looking for anyone who witnessed the violent incident, and has asked anyone who saw anything to call them on 101, extension 202449.
