As the Great North Run is getting closer and closer, athletes will be gearing up and preparing themselves for the big event.
The elite athletes have even more at stake than most participants of the half marathon, as there is also the chance to win some cash too.
Winnings can reach up to £1,500 as well as guaranteed entry for the 2023 Great Run events.
However, the prize money is only available for those that register and meet the requirements for the elite athlete category.
These requirements include giving information on when and where your qualifying performances took place to make sure they meet the category standards.
