It's not long now until the Junior and Mini Great North Run takes place on the iconic scene of Quayside.
This year's race is set to be bigger and better than ever with the highest numbers of young runners registered ever seen before.
Newcastle Quayside will be buzzing with excitement and adrenaline as hundreds of children and adults alike get ready to race.
Ahead of the race, there is lots of information you need to be aware of to make sure that you are fully prepared.
And you're in luck because we've got everything you need to know from the route, start times, race types and what to expect at the finish line.
When is the Junior and Mini Great North Run?
Juniors and minis will take on the run on Saturday, September 10.
This is just a day before the official Great North Run on Sunday, September 11.
What is the route for the Junior and Mini Great North?
The route follows much of the same as the bigger Great North Run on the following day.
The race starts on the Newcastle side of the Quayside where runners will run across the Swing Bridge towards Gateshead.
They will then travel alongside the river before reaching Gateshead Millennium Bridge.
To reach the finish line, runners will cross over Gateshead Millennium Bridge back over to the Newcastle side.
What are the start times for the Junior and Mini Great North?
Much like the senior Great North Run race, the junior and minis will all have staggered start times to avoid overcrowding and ensure race safety.
The staggered times will be given by an allocated colour and a number that will let you know your wave and start time.
The race typically has four waves that start with the opening assembly and a warm-up at the beginning.
Junior and Mini Great North Run key information
For many of the children, this will be their first time taking part in the Mini Great North Run event and their first experience in a mass participation running event.
This is why all mini run numbers will also include an "accompanying adult" bib, to ensure parents and guardians can take children around the course.
What to expect at the finish line of the Junior and Mini Great North Run
After finishing the race, there's no doubt that many of the children will be tried and ready for a nap.
But just before they get some much-needed rest, they will be able to get a little finishers pack filled with goodies.
The pack includes a t-shirt, a medal and many other goodies that will keep the kids entertained.
