The smell of diesel was in the air as this year's Northumberland Classic and Performance Motor Show got underway.

In Corbridge, near Hexham, thousands descended to the event in a bid to see their favourite cars up close and personal.

Taking place at Tynedale Park on Sunday, August 14, there was a healthy selection of class cars, kit cars, modern classics, motorcycles and light commercial vehicles.

Before the event, organisers said: "You can expect all the familiar delights of a show from Great British Motor Shows.

"Meet other classic car enthusiasts and swap stories over the chamois and browse the many trade and autojumble stands.

"The show arena will run with full commentary throughout the afternoon."

Some classic car fans had even camped on the night before.
