A major bar chain is looking for a rum tester, with the lucky recruit landing a £1,000 salary.
Revolucion de Cuba, the Havana-inspired cocktail bar group is on the hunt for the UK’s biggest rum fan to become their official taste tester, and the ideal candidate could be from the North East.
The chain, which has a site in Newcastle, is offering someone the chance to sample and critique what it describes as a “plethora of delectable rums” for a £1,000 salary.

The lucky candidate will also get to attend complimentary tastings and enjoy street food with friends as perks of the job.
According to the job advert on the Rev de Cuba website, the job will entail reviewing the bar’s latest cocktail menu, creating social media content and trying out the chain’s new rum masterclass.
Kat Schofield, Brand Marketing Manager, at Revolucion de Cuba, said: “We’re looking for an expert rum tester to join our team, someone who loves and celebrates rum as much as we do.
“This really is the dream job for rum fans, and the successful applicant will help curate future cocktails, making sure that we remain the high street’s rum paradise.”

Due to the nature of the job applications are only open to over 18s.
The opportunity comes as Revolucion de Cuba launches its new Latin-inspired cocktail menu ahead of introducing brand-new rum masterclasses in September.
To apply for the position, applicants should email rum.residency@revolutionbarsgroup.com with their name, date of birth, location, favourite rum and 100 words on why they would be perfect for the role.
Applications are open NOW and will remain open until Friday 26th August. The chosen applicant will be selected and contacted on Friday 2nd September.
