A County Durham foodbank boss has appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain and told of the heartbreak she is witnessing during the cost of living crisis.
Clair McGregor of the Angel Trust, Bishop Auckland, appeared on the show on Wednesday (August 17) morning following the news that inflation had topped 10 percent in July as families continue to struggle to make ends meet.
Speaking on the programme Clair told the of the heartbreak that she witnesses at her foodbank and pantry, with people coming to in tears.

She told the ITV show: “We had an elderly gentleman come in, he was 62 years-old, we bought hm in we had to sit him down and he was very emotional - he was crying.
“He said, ‘I’ve worked all of my life I’ve paid a my bills this month but I’ve only got £22 to live off for the rest of the month’.”
The Angel Trust only opened their new foodbank and community pantry at the beginning of the month but have told The Northern Echo they have been ‘inundated’ with people coming to them for help.

They are urgently appealing for food donations after being incredibly busy over the last few weeks
It comes as inflation was confirmed to have hit 10.1 percent in July, meaning the average price of everyday household goods has increased by over 10 percent since the same time last year.
The increase was largely down to increasing food prices and staple goods like toilet rolls and toothbrushes, according to the Office for National Statistics.
