A man has told of his fury at a bathroom company which owes him over £7,000 after his shower room renovations turned into a ‘nightmare’.
James Crosthwaite, a taxi driver from Chapel House, Newcastle, hired bathroom firm Home Bathroom Installations in early 2021 to carry out some work on his home having been quoted £9,000 to complete the work.
But he says the project was hit with a series of delays, starting a month late in May 2021 and taking until August to complete.

James says the work done by the firm, owned by Anthony Wilson, was completed to a poor standard, with cladding was installed the wrong way, rubbish was left outside of his home, and he has since had to fork out another £3,000 to have it fixed.
James, 37, said: “It’s been a total nightmare.
“He constantly blamed other people for delays and was using subcontractors to do the work.
“We got a quote from him in March last year and the work was meant to start in April but they didn’t come til late May.
“The cladding was installed the wrong way, the wrong pipes were used and we had rubbish left outside our house for months.

“When this was going on I had a 1-year-old, a new-born and a wife recovering from surgery. It has been very stressful.”
It was only in May this year that James’ bathroom was finally finished, almost a year after work started, after he was forced to pay another company £3,000 to put the bathroom right.
Now a County Court Judgement has been issued against Wilson’s Home Bathroom Installations saying it owes Mr Crosthwaite £7,655.
James added: “I contacted high court enforcement to try and get my money, but he’s started a new company and Home Bathroom Installations was never listed on companies house.”

High Court Enforcement have so far tried three times to carry out a writ against Mr Wilson but have so far been unable to do so.
Contesting the claim in defence Wilson admitted there had been delays but said “It has always been my intention to complete this job and to be askes (sic) for almost £8,000 to be returned is not reasonable.”
Sacriston-based Home Bathroom Installations has since ceased trading, but owner Anthony Wilson has now set up a new company named Bathrooms and Cladding in Houghton-le-Spring.
The Northern Echo has contacted Anthony Wilson but he declined to comment.
