Councillors have argued that this is the “best time to do it” as it is “not hugely affecting the traffic the way it would when the schools are on.”
However, residents have been left questioning whether there are “any roads left in Darlington open to car drivers.”
We’ve pulled together a list of the major roadworks taking place in Darlington at the moment:
- Woodland Road
Temporary traffic lights are currently in place due to construction taking place on the A68.
The work is being carried out to construct a new cycle-lane and improve the footpath along the road.
- Edinburgh Drive
Temporary traffic lights are currently in place on Edinburgh Drive around the Wycliffe Way area.
The works are part of gas main works in the area.
- Barton Street
There are currently temporary traffic lights on Barton Street and around Allan Street.
This is also due to gas main works in the area.
- A167 Beaumont Hill at Hartlea Avenue
There are also temporary traffic lights on the A167 at Beaumont Hill.
This is due to electricity work on the site.
- A167 between Coatham Mundeville and Harrowgate
Temporary traffic lights are currently in place on the A167 between Coatham Mundeville and Harrowgate due to construction in the area.
