The North East's poshest village have been named as three rural spots have been named across the region.

With Brancepeth winning for County Durham, Kirkby Overblow for North Yorkshire and Dinnington for Tyne and Wear.

It comes as more and more families swap the busy everyday hustle and bustle of city life for a more calm, collected and fresh air atmosphere of the countryside. 

Estate agents Savills saw a 60 per cent rise in demand for rental homes in the most desirable countryside locations across the UK with people opting to rent in the country while waiting for a property to become available in their chosen area. 

The news comes as The Telegraph shares research from Savills on the most desirable villages in each county.

The research is based on a mix of the highest house prices, best lifestyle amenities, connectivity and even chocolate-box appeal. 

And now three of the North East's own, have been named among the poshest places to live in UK, beating a host of local competitors in doing so, thanks to their wealth of appeal and welcoming locals. 

Brancepeth named the poshest places to live in County Durham

With ivy covered cottages, this former colliery village may be small but has an almighty beauty. 

With Brancepeth Castle dates back to the 12th century, a cafe in the gatehouse and even a golf course next to the village hall. 

And for the charms and quirks of the village, it has a reasonable price tag, with the average costing £390,238. 

Kirkby Overblow named the poshest places to live in North Yorkshire

Thanks to its big family homes, local good pubs and host of welcoming people Kirkby Overblow is named on the list. 

With a good school nearby, the village is calm and quiet and offers great food at its local family-run restaurant. 

The large houses in Kirkby Overblow push prices up to £698,656 but make great homes for big families. 

Dinnington named the poshest places to live in Tyne & Wear

In Tyne & Wear the poshet village has been names as the small rural area of Dinnigton. 

The medical village dates back to 13th century its boasts a traditional village atmosphere. 

With a local church, school, social club, doctors surgery and village hall. 

It even has the Masons Arms pub that looks over the green and is in proximity to Ponteland and Darras, the millionaire's row of the north. 

Though it might be near, house prices in the village aren't too steep, with the average house costing £210,671.
