Thousands of people flocked to beaches across the region today as the warm weather continued in the North East.
Beaches were packed out again on Thursday (August 11) as temperatures soared for the second day running as a heatwave hits the UK.
Temperatures reached highs of 30C in the region on Thursday with an amber extreme heat warning in place for much of the south.

It is expected to be hot again on Friday (August 12) with highs of 31C forecast, according to the Met Office.
A drought is also expected to be declared for some parts of England, as another heatwave scorches the country after months of low rainfall.
Beach-goers enjoyed the warm whether though on Thursday with beaches across the region, including Blyth, Northumberland packed out with those looking to enjoy the hot weather.
