A major road is due to remain partially closed until next week as local authorities fix a burst water main.
The A1290 Wessington Way, westbound carriageway, is closed from Northern Way to the Northern Spire Bridge junction as repair work is due to be carried out today on the water main.
Sunderland Council said it is working with Northumbrian Water after the road was first closed on Wednesday afternoon.

Water several inches deep flooded the road and pictures on social media showed a huge amount of water covering both carriageways.
An update on Thursday afternoon confirmed it will remain closed until Tuesday, August 16, at the earliest while the repairs to the failed water trunk main are carried out.
Cars were left stranded on the carriageway, with some pictures shared on social media showing drivers sitting on the roof to escape the water.
Some residents in the area said their water was turned off, with early estimates that they could be restored by around 3am.
