Two people were taken to hospital last night after they were hit by a bus in a North East town centre, police have said.
Several police patrol cars arrived on the scene in Stockton, along with paramedic crews after reports that someone had been hit by a bus.
The road was soon cordoned off while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Cleveland Police has this morning confirmed that two pedestrians had been hit by a bus on Yarm Lane and High Street near Swallow Hotel.
A young woman and man received injuries and were taken to hospital as a result.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Police attended a report of a collision involving two pedestrians and a bus on the Yarm Lane/High Street junction (near the Swallow Hotel) in Stockton just after 5.50pm yesterday.

“A young woman and a man were reported to have sustained injuries and attended hospital.
“Officers are to check on their welfare today and enquiries into the collision are on-going.”
A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said last night: “We got a call at 5.50pm this evening.
"We dispatched a paramedic crew, a specialist paramedic and a clinical team leader. We treated two patients with minor injuries, before taking them to North Tees Hospital."
