Work to renovate a famous sea-view hotel in Tynemouth is now underway with plans for a new takeaway restaurant and outdoor terraces.
The former Park Hotel in Tynemouth will be transformed under a new multi-million-pound development over the next year after standing empty for months.
The well-known hotel with incredible views over Tynemouth’s Longsands beach will be transformed with new sea-view rooms, terraces and outdoor seating areas and dog-friendly areas.

It will also have 20 new additional rooms, an ice cream parlour and takeaway fish and chip shop.
Work on the 53-bedroom hotel, which was bought last year by The Inn Collection Group, is expected to take 11 months and will be completed in time for Summer 2023.
Inn Collection Group’s managing director Sean Donkin said: “The countdown can begin for what will be a superb new venue for North Tyneside.
“This stunning building is long overdue significant investment to give it an exciting new chapter as a thriving inn in the heart of the vibrant community here in Tynemouth.
“We are looking forward to being a part of that community and contributing to North Tyneside’s wider economic growth, prosperity and employment opportunities through year-round increased trading by bringing people in to the area and improved bar and dining areas to attract new and local trade.”
Bosses say the “family-friendly” pub with rooms and will also boast secure bike storage and electric car charging points.

Gateshead firm STP Construction have been appointed as the contractors for the site.
Sean added: “We are delighted to have appointed a construction partner of the calibre of STP and that work is about to get underway to redevelop the former Park Hotel”
Leisure firm The Inn Collection Group already has 31 sites across Northumberland, County Durham, Wearside, Lancashire, North Wales and the Lake District.
