Police have confirmed why they were called to an emergency incident at a North East cemetery on Tuesday.
Officers from Cleveland Police were called to a report of concern for the safety of a man at around 7pm at Thornaby Cemetery.
Crews from the North East Ambulance Service and Crime Scene Investigators were also sighted at the scene, near the A1130.
A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police added: “Officers and ambulance service colleagues attended the area of Thornaby Cemetery, where a man was found with injuries.
“The man was taken to hospital and remains in hospital in a serious condition.”
