Excitement is building ahead of the opening of a new retro gaming bar in Newcastle city centre next month.
The NQ64 retro gaming bar will open on Pilgrim Street on Friday August 5 and bosses at the venue have announced what customers can expect when the venue opens its doors, including quirky cocktails inspired by the games on offer and neon graffiti art.
The R&B, hip-hop venue promises around 30 arcade games including old classics like Pac Man, Space Invaders and Guitar Hero, and will be open Monday - Friday 4pm - 2am, Saturday 12pm until 2am, Sunday 12pm - 1am.

Cocktails on the menu include will a ‘Power Star Martini’, ‘Pacs a Punch’, ‘Donkey Kolada’ and ‘Bowser Breezer’, all named after well-known games.
The Newcastle venue will be NQ64’s first to be set across two floors, and will offer two bars, a photobooth and dedicated Guitar Hero booth, as well as arcade machines throughout.
Bosses at NQ64 say the venue will be “one of the most Instagrammable places in town” with graffiti murals designed by Manchester muralist Russ Meehan, who designed a tribute to the Manchester Arena bombing victims.
Russ said: “Working for NQ64 is brilliant, I love bringing their vison for each venue to life. Each venue’s art work follows a similar brief but no two venues are the same. I love the artistic freedom that comes with working with them.

Work has been underway at the Pilgrim Street location in the former Intermezzo bar with doors set to open for the first time next month.
The company already runs eight venues across the country with spots in Manchester, Soho, Glasgow, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Liverpool.
The venue will open on Friday August 5 and offer a happy hour Monday to Friday 4-7pm.
