One man has been taken to hospital today (Sunday, July 24) and another man, aged 44, has been arrested after a major crash on the A19.
The incident happened at around 1.43pm in the afternoon and saw the road closed for a number of hours after a van had crashed with a bike.
The rider of the scooter, a man in his 60s, suffered serious injuries and remains in critically ill condition at James Cook University Hospital.
Emergency services were quick to the scene and reports suggested a Great North Air Ambulance was on route.

Delays of eight minutes were initially reported at the scene but this quickly climbed to nine minutes during rush hour traffic.
The Southbound carriageway was opened later in the afternoon, but the southbound carriageway remained closed for some time.
A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 1.43pm to 999 to reports of a road traffic accident on the A19 near Billingam between a van and a bike.

“Off-duty nurses were on scene assisting the patient whilst our teams were travelling. We sent three emergency ambulances, a specialist paramedic, a clinical team leader and the Great North Air Ambulance.
"One male patient taken to James Cook by air."
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences and he remains in police custody.
"Any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage can contact PC Martin Tranmer on 101, quoting incident number 129461."
