As we close off a week that saw record-breaking temperatures in a heatwave that swept across the UK, we’ve had a look at the weather this weekend – here’s everything you need to know.
The week started with a scorching temperatures when a record-breaking heatwave swept across the region heating the mercury to 38c in some places.
However, by Wednesday many were glad to see cooler air move in with much cooler and moderate temperatures for the rest of the week.

But what’s the weather like this weekend, are we set for further hot temperatures?
What’s the weather like today?
Bright and sunny spells are expected to start the day off, however, it is set to quickly become cloudy for some.
In the afternoon, fresh winds and outbreaks of rain will arrive from the west bringing with them a maximum temperature of 19c.
In Darlington temperatures aren’t set to reach any higher than 19c and there is currently a 90% chance of rain at 2pm this afternoon.
In Durham temperatures will also only peak to around 19c, however rain is much less likely for most of the day with just a 20% chance of precipitation at 3pm.

Middlesbrough will see some warmer temperatures with 20c predicted for much of the day, however, it does fail to escape the rain with a 50% chance of precipitation at 2pm.
Newton Aycliffe will see much of the same with highs of 19c predicted and a 50% chance of rain at 2pm.
What’s the weather like tomorrow?
Sunday is set to bring further sunny spells, but there is still a threat of showers at times.
However, temperatures are set to be slightly higher with a maximum temperature of 23c predicted.
In Darlington temperatures are set to peak at 22c with further rain expected between 3pm and 7pm.
Back in Durham, temperatures will also peak at 22c again with rain set to arrive between 6pm and 8pm.
