A walk in the park aimed at raising money for charity has been postponed due to forecasted high temperatures and wind.

The Bark in the Park Dog Walk and Dog Show had been scheduled to take place in Teesside on Sunday.

However, the event has been postponed due to forecasted weather conditions.

Organisers said forecasts were predicting temperature which may be unsafe for animals, as well as high winds.

The event was planned in aid of Age UK Teesside and was due to take place in Preston Park, Stockton.

A statement from the charity said: “Unfortunately the weather forecast for the weekend indicates temperatures which may be unsafe for animals and high wind.

“In the interest of safety and protecting our four legged friends from high tarmac temperatures and heat stroke/exhaustion the charity have taken the decision to postpone the event.

“We appreciate this will be disappointing news and apologise for the inconvenience caused, we expect a new date to be agreed with Stockton Council shortly and will contact our guests with further information as soon as we are able to.”
