A motorist was taken to hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on Wednesday.
The A19 in County Durham was closed northbound between the A689 (Wolviston) and the A179 turn off (for Hartlepool) near Elwick due the crash involving a lorry and a car.

The road was closed from the A689 slip road onto the A19, while there were also long tailbacks on the A19 in both directions as motorists faced severe delays throughout the morning.
Local police, fire and ambulance crews attended the crash between a Ford Fiesta and a HGV lorry.
