Hundreds of postcodes across the North East are without power due to the current heatwave and hot weather sweeping across the UK.
Northern Powergrid has confirmed that hundreds of homes in the region are currently without power due to soaring temperatures causing disruption.
It comes as the region is set to see record-breaking temperatures today with many areas reaching highs of 38c or higher.

An amber warning for extreme heat is still currently in place which has warned of damage to electric equipment causing power cuts and the loss of other services.
