The car failed to do so and enquiries soon revealed that the vehicle had been stolen, along with the keys, earlier that night.

At 3.45am, CCTV images in the city spotted the car in the market place, and police put resources in place to stop it.

However, the vehicle turned into Ure Bank Terrace before reaching them – a dead end for the driver.

The vehicle stopped at the end and the driver got out and ran back down the street where he was detained by officers.
