The A1 has been closed following a multi-vehicle crash as emergency services are on the scene and a diversion route has been put in place.
The closure is in place between the B1337 at Stannington and the A19 at Seaton Burn.
According to AA incidents, one of the vehicles has overturned as a result of the crash.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of the crash and diversion has been put in place.
The incident was first reported at 7.12pm tonight (Thursday, July 14).
