The North East is set for a week of moderate and warm weather before extreme heat is set to cause devastation across the UK.

Widespread impacts on people and infrastructure are expected, along with “population-wide adverse health effects."

The warning for extreme heat has been issued for much of Southern England but also reaches up to Teesside and parts of the North East while covering all of North Yorkshire.

The Northern Echo:

Today, the weather forecaster has extended the amber warning into Tuesday, as the UK is set to see three days of extreme, record-breaking heat.

The warning, which is in place from midnight on Sunday, July 17 until midnight on Tuesday, July has revealed that temperatures may lead to “potential serious illness or danger to life.”

However, before we reach those worrying temperatures, we’re set for a week of moderate to warm temperatures for the remainder of the week.
