The A66 will be closed overnight this week at Middlesbrough’s Hartington Interchange to allow for bridge assessment works.

The road will be closed in both directions from 8pm on Thursday, July 14 to 5am on Friday, July 15.

The closure will enable assessment works to be undertaken to the Hartington Interchange overbridges, and follows an earlier closure in June to allow for urgent repair work.

The assessments will ensure that any further repairs are carried out in a timely manner.

Vehicles will be diverted up and over Hartington Roundabout via the on/off slip roads. Hartington Road and North Road will also remain open.

A Middlesbrough Council spokesman said: “We aim to complete the assessments as quickly as possible and hope to keep any disruption to a minimum.

“As ever we are grateful to motorists for their patience and understanding, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
