The iconic Great Yorkshire Show has begun at Harrogate Showground on Tuesday (July 12) – with thousands expected to attend over the next four days.

To mark the 163rd instalment of the event, the gates opened at around 8am in a celebration of agriculture, farming, food, country, and everything Yorkshire.

On the opening day, it’s reported that Princess Anne will be overseeing the shorthorn cattle class, while Countryfile’s Adam Henson, Yorkshire Vet’s Peter Wright and host Christine Talbot will all attend.

Meanwhile, other esteemed guests, including BBC’s Matt Baker, popstar JB Gill and Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen will attend throughout the four days.

This year’s Great Yorkshire Show has sold out on all four days – with a bumper, record attendance expected on Harrogate Showground.

Despite plenty of people wanting to attend, it’s inevitable that the sold-out nature will mean that people will be disappointed and can’t be there in person.

For those that don’t manage to get through the famous gates of The Great Yorkshire Show, don’t worry because camera crews will be in attendance during all four days of the event.

This will lead to Channel 5 streaming some of the best bits and highlights from the show later this week.

In a show called ‘Today at The Great Yorkshire Show’, Channel 5 will broadcast key moments and some of the famous faces at 8pm on Wednesday (July 13) and Thursday (July 14).

There will also be highlights over the weekend.

For those attending the event, have a great time, for those watching the coverage at home, enjoy!
