A major A-road through Stockton was blocked for several hours earlier this afternoon after a crash left one vehicle on its side.
The incident happened on the A66 eastbound under the A19 flyover in the Stockton area, around 11.45am this morning (July 8).
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a patient transport ambulance on its side on the verge at next to the road. It was said to be on the other side of the crash barriers and had a smashed windscreen.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services attended and recovery of the vehicles involved could take place.
No one was seriously injured.
Earlier today a Cleveland Police spokesperson told The Northern Echo: “Police received a report of a collision involving a patient transport vehicle around 11:45am this morning on the A66 towards Middlesbrough, underneath the A19 flyover.
“Diversions are in place and emergency services remain on scene. Those involved are believed to be walking wounded.”
The patient transport vehicle involved is believed to be from a private ambulance provider and not the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS).

An NEAS spokesperson said: “We received several calls that came in around 11.50am this morning with reports of a two vehicle road traffic collision which was on the A66 near to the junction with the A19.
“A team leader arrived on the scene first and reported there were no injuries, and we were not required.”
The road reopened shortly after 2pm following clean up and recovery of the vehicles involved.
