All train lines are closed between Darlington and Newcastle after a person was hit by a train on the track.
The incident, which happened in the early hours of this morning (Friday July 8), means that trains running through Darlington and Newcastle stations may be cancelled or revised today.

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 2.03am this morning to an incident on the train lines near to Salters Lane level crossing.
"We dispatched two vehicles from our Hazardous Area Response Team, a duty officer, clinical team leader and two double crewed ambulances."
A spokesman for LNER said: "It is with sadness. that due to a person being hit by a train, some services are cancelled, altered, or delayed.
"Please bear with us and we will update the website and social media as soon as we have the information.
"Customers have ticket acceptance on Northern services between Middlesbrough and Darlington.
"Rail replacement is being sourced for onward travel between Darlington and York."
Services affected include CrossCountry, LNER, Lumo between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross, Northern between Carlisle and Saltburn and TransPennine Express between Newcastle and York / Liverpool Lime Street.
The disruption is expected to last until 2pm today.
A National Rail spokesman said: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Newcastle and Darlington and as a result, all lines are closed.
"Trains running through these stations may be cancelled or revised.
"Major disruption is expected until 2pm."

Some Northern services between Newcastle and Darlington may be diverted via Hartlepool.
In this instance, Durham will not be served.
LNER services between Sunderland / Newcastle / Middlesbrough and London Kings Cross may be cancelled or diverted.
Where services are diverted, trains will be unable to call at Durham or Darlington.
Cross Country passengers from Newcastle may travel on the Tyne & Wear Metro towards Sunderland, and then board Grand Central services from there at 8.53am and 9.54am from Sunderland to York.
