Three people have been injured in a serious collision on a major North East A-road - as the air ambulance was called to attend the crash on Thursday (July 7) morning. 

Emergency services attended the scene of a car crash on the A69, near the A68 Stagshore Roundabout at around 10.55am following reports of a collision near Corbridge. 

After arriving on the scene, Northumbria Police closed the road for just under two hours to allow officers, paramedics, and a crew from the air ambulance to treat the patients.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “At about 10.55am today (Thursday) we received a report of a collision on the A69 westbound close to the roundabout with the A68, near Corbridge.

“Emergency services are at the scene and three occupants received treatment for injuries that are not deemed to be life-threatening.

“The road has since reopened.”

At this time, it's unknown how many vehicles were involved in the serious crash and the conditions of those involved.

However, the North East Ambulance Service and the Great North Air Ambulance have been contacted for a statement relating to the incident.
