Residents of Darlington were surprised to see a plane take to the skies with a special message on a banner.
A plane with a ‘Happy Birthday’ banner was spotted flying over Darlington around 6pm yesterday evening (Monday, July 4).
The banner had the message ‘Happy 70th birthday Capt. Tim Neville!’, and many residents took to social media to discuss the sighting.
Captain Tim Neville is an airline regional pilot manager for Thomas Cook and many on Facebook described the plane as a “lovely gesture.”

Mariola Samways said: “Wow! That’s awesome! Happy 70th birthday!”
Many noticed the plane but could not quite make out the message on the banner, with some residents using binoculars.
Val Moss said: “We heard the plane earlier, must have been flying overhead for a good five minutes or more. Happy birthday Captain Tim!”
