These are the ten people in the North East that have been charged for driving offences in court in recent weeks.

Driving offences are generally quite prolific in courts with many people being caught for speeding, driving without insurance and sometimes driving while under the influence of drink or drugs.

This can net people fines, points on their licence and sometimes even prison time if the offence is serious enough.

Here is a list of those who appeared in North East courts charged in court for driving offences.

Michael Willemse, 56, of Hewitson Road in Darlington

Willemse’s case was heard before County Durham and Darlington Magistrates Court on July 1.

He was charged with speeding and failing to reveal the identity of the driver during the offence.

He was caught going over the 30mph speed limit, however, the offence was withdrawn.

Willemse was fined £660, made to pay £66 to victim services and £90 in court costs.

He was also endorsed with six points on his driver's licence.

Beth Megan Watson, 33 of Ripon Drive in Darlington

Watson had her case heard before County Durham and Darlington Magistrates Court on July 1.

She was charged with speeding after being caught by manned equipment going over 30mph on Geneva Road.

Watson was fined £192 and made to pay £34 to victim services and £90 in court costs.

She also had her driving record endorsed with three points.

Joe Thomson, 26 of Elgin Court in Darlington

Thomson had his case heard before County Durham and Darlington Magistrates Court on July 1.

He was charged with using a vehicle without third-party insurance while travelling on the A167.

He was fined £660 for the offence and was also made to pay £66 to victim services and £90 in court costs.

Thomson’s driving record was also endorsed with six points.

Amanda Jane Whitfield, 48 of Cumberland Street in Darlington

Whitfield also had her case heard before County Durham and Darlington Magistrates Court on July 1.

She was caught speeding on the A167 through Aycliffe Village at over 30mph by manned equipment.

She was fined £220 for the offence, made to pay £34 to victim services and made to pay £90 in court costs.

Whitfield also had her driving record endorsed with six points.

Dorina Turcan, 27 of Enfield Street in Middlesbrough

Turcan had her case heard before County Durham and Darlington Magistrates Court on July 1.

She was charged with speeding after being caught going over 30mph by manned equipment and failing to give the information of the driver at the time of the offence.

The speeding offence was withdrawn, and she was fined £660 and made to pay £66 to victim services and £90 in court costs.

Turcan was also endorsed with six points on her licence.

Nemes Vasile, 53 of Crescent Road in Middlesbrough

Vasile’s case was heard before County Durham and Darlington Magistrates Court on July 1.

He was also charged with speeding and failing to give information relating to the driver at the time of the offence.

The speeding offence was withdrawn, however, he was fined for failing to give information relating to the driver and was made to pay £66 to victim services and £90 in court costs.

He was also endorsed with six points on his licence.

Kimberley Sutherland, 51 of Sunnydale Shildon in County Durham

Sutherland had her case heard before County Durham and Darlington Magistrates Court on Friday.

She was also caught going over 30mph by manned equipment and failing to give information on the identification of the driver at the time of the offence.

The speeding offence was also withdrawn, however, the other offence resulted in a £660 fine, and she was made to pay £66 to victim services and £90 in court costs.

Her driving record was also endorsed with six points.
