A County Durham man has appeared in court after he assaulted a woman and destroyed her front door.

Jonathan James Maxwell, 33 of Kilnhill Walk, Peterlee in County Durham had his case heard at County Durham and Darlington Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 23.

He was charged with assaulting a woman and, on the same day, destroying her front and rear door by kicking it and causing it to crack.

Maxwell was also charged with making a call that was “grossly offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing”.

He pleaded guilty to all the offences and was given a community order.

He was also made to pay £95 to victim services, and £85 to Crown Prosecution Service.
