In an announcement on Facebook, the council expressed their apologise after making the announcement on such short notice.

Everything was on course to go ahead as of 9.30am this morning, however, wind gusts have increased measurably in the last hour.
A revised forecast also came through predicting wind speeds will reach 40mph today.
The council stressed that during their pre-opening safety checks, one of the on-site gazebos was lifted off its pegs, which means the event was not safe to go ahead.
The event has not let anyone in yet and payments have not yet been taken and it is in the process of turning people back.
If people have set off already, they have been asked not to come to the site.
