A MOTORIST accused of killing a mum-of-three at the weekend has made his first appearance in court.
Jonathan Strang made a short appearance at Teesside Magistrates' Court after being arrested in connection with the alleged hit-and-run death of Justine Wedgwood.
The 50-year-old died in the collision in the Boosbeck area of east Cleveland, on Sunday.
Strang, of Valley Road, Middlesbrough, was not asked to enter a plea to a charge of causing death by dangerous driving.
The 33-year-old was remanded in custody until an appeareance at Teesside Crown Court.
The collision happened in Boosbeck Road,Skelton Green, around 10.45pm on Sunday.
Ms Wedgwood, who had three children and three grandchildren, was killed after being hit by a vehicle.
Strang is expected to appear in court again in the morning.
- A second man, aged 37, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.
- Officers have also arrested a third man, aged 27, also on suspicion of assisting an offender and he remains in police custody at this time.
