Detectives investigating a hit-and-run collision in which a woman was killed have released an image of a vehicle as part of an appeal to trace the driver.

The pedestrian died after suffering serious injuries in the collision at around 10:45pm on Sunday (June 19) on Boosbeck Road, Skelton Green.

The suspect vehicle, which is now believed to be a silver Volvo XC90 with registration SV04 TFE, did not stop at the scene and is believed to have carried on travelling towards Skelton village following the collision.

Detective Chief Inspector Shaun Page said: “I am very keen to identify and locate the driver and this vehicle, which will have suffered front end damage as a result of the collision, as part of our ongoing enquiries.

“The vehicle may still be in the local area and anyone who may have seen this Volvo or know its location is urged to contact us on 101 as soon as possible.

“So far we have had a good response to our public appeal and we’d like to continue to urge people to upload any footage which could assist our investigation and to call us with information.

“Specially trained officers are continuing to support the woman’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this very difficult time.”

Police have reappealed to anyone in the Skelton Green and Skelton areas with CCTV or dash cam footage between 10pm and 11pm to check their footage for the vehicle or anything else which could assist their ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 105462.
