Teesside Park’s Tim Hortons welcomed its new customers at 7am this morning, and some fast food-lovers queued for hours to be one of the first through the doors.

The Canadian fast food chain serves burgers, bagels, doughnuts and more. Hungry Teessiders couldn’t wait to be in with a chance of being one of the first customers and winning a year’s supply of coffee, worth over £3000.

A lucky man from Ingleby Barwick queued from 7:45pm last night (Sunday, June 19). He was one of the first through the doors and won a year's supply of coffee.

Tim Hortons was also giving away free breakfasts for the first 100 customers.

Catherine Furlong, centre director at Teesside Park, told The Northern Echo last week: “We’re always looking to bring new brands and experiences to the centre and we’re very excited that Tim Hortons has chosen us for one of its latest openings.

“The new restaurant will complement the strong mix of retailers we have at Teesside Park and we’re sure its menu, as well as its opening day giveaways, will prove very popular with our visitors when it opens its doors on June 20.”

The brand has created 80 new jobs on Teesside and staff have been training and working on the finishing touches for the last two weeks.

Clearly the demand for Tim Hortons is high on Teesside as many queued for 12 hours in anticipation of their first bite of breakfast and first sip of coffee.

The new venue has a drive-thru and seating inside for 136 guests and the restaurant will be open from 6am until midnight, seven days a week.
