A teenage cyclist was taken to hospital after colliding with a car this morning.

Emergency services were called to Newton Aycliffe railway station after the 14-year-old boy was injured.

The driver of a Seat car was no injured in the incident on Greenfield Way.

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 8.05am this morning to a road traffic collision involving a car and a bike outside of Newton Aycliffe train station.

“We dispatched a double crewed ambulance, a clinical team leader and a doctor.

“One patient was transported to James Cook University Hospital.”

Durham Constabulary was called to investigate.

A force spokesman said: “Police were called at 8.15am this morning to reports of a one vehicle collision involving a cyclist just outside of Newton Aycliffe railway station.

“A teenage boy was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough with injuries.”
