A dramatic crash in County Durham has left one person’s home severely damaged. Here is what we know so far about the incident.
What happened?
Emergency services were called to Harperley Terrace in Fir Tree, Crook, shortly after 9am on Monday.
How did it happen?
The driver of a blue Kia Sorrento has lost control of the vehicle and collided the front of an end terraced house.
Was anybody injured?
The occupants of the car, a man and a woman, were taken to the University Hospital of North Durham in an ambulance.
The person who lives there was not injured.
Where was the crash?
The house is where the junction of Harperley Terrace meets the A68.
What happened after the crash?
Northern Powergrid engineers attended the property and disconnected the electricity supply
Durham County Council sent officers to make sure the area is safe.
Paul Burr, Durham County Council’s building and facilities maintenance manager, said: “We are liaising with the home owner and will continue to work with partners to determine the extent of the damage and carry out an assessment of the property.”
