EMERGENCY services were at the scene of a crash that shut a road in County Durham this evening.

The crash, involving two vehicles, happened at the Meadows School on Whitworth Road, Spennymoor at about 6pm today (Thursday, June 9).

A spokesman from Durham Roads Policing Unit said: "We are on scene dealing with a two vehicle RTC at The Meadows School, Whitworth Road, Spennymoor - the road is closed to all vehicles in both directions.

"Recovery are on scene so hopefully won’t be shut too much longer."
