THERE are just days to go until Harrods makes its exciting debut in the North East with the opening of its major store in the Metrocentre.
The luxury retailer has officially confirmed the opening date of its new H Beauty store and champagne bar after months of rumour and speculation.
The gold-plated store has moved into the former House of Fraser store, which was vacated by the retailer last year.

In recent weeks, neon signs and a glitzy mirror were spotted as the finishing touches were being added inside.
This evening Harrods confirmed the store, which will be the fifth in the UK, will finally open to shoppers at 9am on June 14.
Annalise Fard, Director of Beauty of Harrods, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming you all through our doors at H beauty Gateshead from 9am on the June 14.

"Following the fantastic response that we’ve had to our four previous H beauty stores, the launch at the Metrocentre showcases our continued commitment and determination to bring Harrods’ beauty authority and expert offering to passionate beauty communities across the UK.
"We cannot wait for customers to enjoy our carefully curated portfolio of brands, products and services from the world’s leading beauty experts, at our store in Gateshead.”
From a beauty hall stocking luxury makeup to a dedicated champagne bar, Harrods H Beauty is set to serve up a similar offering to the firm's sites elsewhere in the UK.
So far, the company has opened stores in Essex, Milton Keynes, Edinbrugh and Bristol - and it continues to have its Knightsbridge extravaganza in London.
Ben Cox of Sovereign Centros, senior asset manager for Metrocentre, said: “The regional debut of H beauty is a huge moment for Metrocentre.
"We’re delighted to offer the region a luxury retail experience in partnership with Harrods, providing a new flagship destination for all things beauty and featuring major global cosmetic brands.
“There are many exciting developments in the pipeline, and we are proud to be home to some of the very best in regional and national retail, hospitality, and leisure. This letting is a testament to the strength of Metrocentre and we look forward to welcoming our customers to H beauty.”
