A COUNTY Durham man has been fined £2,000 after he stopped an inspector from entering a care home under his responsibility.

Anthony Thirlwall’s case was heard before South Northumbria Magistrates Court on Wednesday June 8.

He was charged after failing to allow an inspector into The Croft Residential Care Home in order to carry out fire-safety checks twice.

Thirlwall was proved guilty in absence, meaning he didn’t attend court, and was fined £2,000 for both offences.

He was also made to pay £190 to victim services and £250 in court costs as well.
