A FOOD giant has apologised to an eleven-year-old girl after she found a suspected spider inside a sweet.
Jasmine Reed, from Darlington, had bought the packet of Rowntree's Randoms from the Sainsbury’s in Corporation Road, Darlington.
The eleven-year-old, who goes to Corporation Road Primary School, was horrified to discover what appears to be part of a spider encased in the jelly sweet as she went to pop it in her mouth.

Brother Ryan Reed, who was home at the time, said: “We couldn’t believe it.
“She ran in and said there’s a spider in my sweet and dad said there’s no way there can be. I was telling her not to be silly but then we looked at it and it is."
He added: “How has it got in there? She couldn’t believe it. She started spitting the sweets out.”
The yellow jelly sweet contains what appears to be a reddish brown creature with a number of identifiable legs.
The unsavoury find put her off the remainder of the sweets.
They have been in touch with Nestlé , who make the sweets, to make a complaint and will be sending the packet back to the company.
Nestlé apologised to Jasmine and says it is investigating the incident.
A Nestlé spokesperson said: “The health and safety of our consumers is our number one priority at Nestlé. We take great care to ensure that we prepare our products to the highest quality and safety standards and have strict procedures in place throughout our operations.
“We are very sorry to hear about the consumer’s experience with this product. We have asked the consumer to send us the product so we can conduct a full investigation.”
