A COUNTY Durham drug driver was given a suspended prison sentence after breaching an order.

Ribaz Nawzad, from Bishop Auckland, had failed to comply with a community order made after he was convicted of driving while above the specified limit for cocaine.

Nawzad, of Oakley Green, was given an eight week sentence, suspended for 18 months.

He admitted the breach when he appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday, June 6. He failed to notify his "responsible officer" of his address.

He had previously been convicted of five offences at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on April 14, last year.

The 30-year-old had been given a community order for driving in Essex Street, Middlesbrough, while exceeding the specified limit for cocaine and benzoylecgonine, a cocaine breakdown product.

He was also found to be in possession of a quantity of cocaine, cannabis and a bladed article.

The original offences happened on October 21, 2020 and the community order was made on May 13, 2021.
