A POP-UP ping pong venue has made a triumphant return to a North East shopping centre after a two year absence during the pandemic – offering a fun activity for any shoppers wanting to improve their sporting skills.
The Ping Pong Parlour initially opened at the Bridges shopping facility in Sunderland in 2019 – but closed suddenly to the disappointment of regular users and those wanting a unique activity.
Now, through the interest of centre bosses and those wanting it to return, its doors have finally opened once more.

The fun activity is available at the Sunderland venue every day and is free to enjoy, with people of all ages being encouraged to take part.
Although only a temporary attraction, the parlour – created in conjunction with Table Tennis England – will give both children and adults the opportunity to play the easy to learn game.
The Ping Pong Parlour has set up in the former Christmas shop unit, opposite H&M, and is open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 4pm and on Sundays from noon until 4pm.

“Table tennis is a great fun activity and people don’t need to have played it before to come and give it a try,” said Karen Eve, centre director at the Bridges.
“There are four tables which means eight people can play at the same time, so it’s a brilliant activity for groups of friends, families or just individuals who want to participate.”
Although using the Ping Pong Parlour is free, participants will need to pay a £5 returnable deposit for use of the bats.
