POLICE officers have been spotted at the scene of a suspected murder in Sunderland after the body of a missing teenager was found at the end of last week.

Units from Northumbria Police initially found the body of Kieran Williams, 18, on the banks of the River Wear on June 2 after extensive searches of the area.

Mr Williams had been missing since April 18.

Despite two men appearing in South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Monday (June 6) – charged with the murder of the teenager, police were spotted combing over the area where Mr Williams’ body was found.

Ben Cook, 19, of Fordfield Road, and Louis Michael Hackett, also 19, of Fordenbridge Square, Sunderland, are accused of killing Mr Williams – and will appear in Newcastle Crown Court on June 8 for a bail hearing.

Specialist officers and a police tent were seen on the riverbank on Monday (June 6) lunchtime.
