TWO teenagers have appeared in court charged with the murder of an 18-year-old after his body was found in Sunderland at the end of last week.

Kieran Williams, 18, was found dead on June 2 after police conducted extensive searches following his disappearance on April 18.

On Monday (June 6), Ben Cook, 19, of Fordfield Road, Sunderland and Louis Michael Hackett, 19, of Fordenbridge Square, Sunderland, appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court - charged with his murder.

In a two-minute court appearance, the pair confirmed their name, birth, and address, before they were taken back into custody until June 8 where they will appear at Newcastle Crown Court for a bail hearing.

The first hearing will be on July 4.

In court on Monday, Cook and Hackett couldn’t apply for bail and the case must be transferred to Crown Court, given the severity of the crime.
