POLICE have confirmed a man was arrested following a "firearms incident" which led to a 24-hour road closure on a busy County Durham road last week.
Police were called to a suspected firearms incident at 12.30pm on Wednesday, May 18 May on Watling Street, Leadgate, near Consett.
The incident let to a put in place in a section of Watling Street, as well as between Medomsley Edge crossroads and the former detention centre, about three miles away.

The road at Medomsley remained closed for more than 24 hours, while police conducted their investigations.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: "A 25-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of aggravated burglary, criminal damage and affray and was released under investigation."
